Sunday 1 August 2010

Well, here it is August already, its been ages since ive posted anything but i do have reasons, I have been so busy..I joined a group that crochets/knits squares to make into a blanket for someone in need. So each month we each send a square, or more and lovely Channelle sews them all together and then sends the finished blanket to a deserving person. So I have been crocheting like a woman possessed! Also been making a lap blanket for Kate, this is now done except for darning in all the ends. I am also making her a bed sized granny square one, and it is getting bigger it just seem that im not crocheting fast enough !!! At this rate it will be xmas 2011 before its done. I als saw a lovely design for granny squares which i am making for myself, no wonder the time seems to be skipping away before my eyes.I also joined a group swap for granny squares, which starts next month, so im excited about that as by this time next year i will have 30 squares , 2 each from each person in the swap. I have asked for blues and purples as my colour scheme, one person actually spins her own wool, that, im reallly looking forward to getting, i bet it will be lovely. Finished two more scarves, (see above for one of them), they are for xmas, have 3 more to do yet. Thats my lot for now..XXX

Friday 30 April 2010

Hurray, I have finally finished redoing my garden. It has been a lot of work but deffinatly worth it. This ought to mean less work each year keeping it tidy
I took some of these from the upstairs window, and for once the sun was shining. When i was out there i found a tiny dead baby bird, must have been taken from a nest, poor little thing.I have loads of tadpoles in the pond now. When i was digging out the other day the ground in front of me began to move, i was a bit worried till i saw it was two frogs, they must have been disturbed with all the working so i put them into the pond.
Plenty of places to sit now, and maybe i can get a gazebo!!! That way i could sit out in the rain and listen to it fall all around me without getting wet. Must try for some pics in the dark when my lights come on.
I suppose this now means i will have to get on with knitting bodywarmers for Kates hens!

Tuesday 20 April 2010

Hello, its mid April and its been snowing!! I havent been blogging for a while but as you can see by the above pics, ive not been sitting around doing nothing. The revamp of my garden was hard work! I have changed all the right hand side and now it wont be so much hard work inthe future. Whoever said gardening was a leisure pursuit must have been joking, there was nothing leisurly about this. But now that its done i plan on sitting out there reading, not working. I have one other master plan still to do, a very big job, havent really begun it yet, but its all going on in my head. I have about 9ft by 12ft of ground to dig out close to the house, remove 2ft of soil and take away to the skip, then build a retaining wall, maybe railway sleepers??? and then level the new bit off and put down bark chips to match the rest of the revamped area.I will really have to try and make a start on it this summer , so i hope there will be enough dry and warmish days for me to get going, my old bones no longer like working in the cold damp weather.

These scarves are a new project, no pattern, just make it up as you go along, same goes for the wool and size of needles. Gave one to Lisa for her birthday, and i even made the button from Fimo, a new craft that ive taken to .
Got to go, my friend wants me to knit body warmers for her ex-battery hens, no ive not gone senile, thats really what she wants! If you would like to see hens modelling said bodywarmers, www.monktonelmgardencentre.co.uk, you can get the pattern here too...happy knitting...X

2010 Already

Cannot believe its 2010 already, but it is, so there we are, into my half century year.I taught myself to crochet granny squares by watching a video on YouTube, thankfully one was in slow motion so i could see exactly what she was doing. Then i watched another one on treble crochet, the result was a great bag, which you can almost see, if it werent for Penny taking a nap on it. It was only half done then so i didnt mind. I finished it today , all lined etc, so i was quite pleased, even though id originally bought the wool to knit a cardiganWe are forecast to get more snow, i really hope they are wrong, im sick of the stuff, weve only just got rid of the last lot and i dont fancy any more this year.
I will try and post more this year, i do keep up with my friends blogs, its just that i forget to add to my own.I am off now to get started on a pair of slippers, hope they go to plan!
